AI already wiped 1.25 lakh IT jobs and nobody talks, are Indians walking blindfolded into crisis?

Reports from industry analysts estimate that AI automation has already displaced over 1.25 lakh IT jobs in India. 1.25 lakh. Already gone. Not in the future. Now. Today. Primarily in entry level coding, testing, and BPO roles. The irony is that while everyone debates whether AI will take jobs in the future, it is already happening quietly. Silently. Nobody is talking about it. No protests. No news debates. No govt statement. Just quiet layoffs disguised as restructuring. IT companies are using AI tools to do more work with fewer people. A team of 10 coders is now a team of 5 with AI assistance. The remaining 5 do not even know their colleagues were replaced by AI. They are told it is restructuring. Cost optimization. Performance based exits. But the truth is AI did their job. Fresher hiring has dropped significantly. Companies that used to hire thousands of freshers every year are now hiring hundreds. The campus placement numbers do not make headlines anymore. Many affected workers do not even realize their roles were eliminated by AI. They think they were laid off because of poor performance or business conditions. They blame themselves. They do not know a machine took their job. Meanwhile Indian engineering colleges keep producing 15 lakh graduates every year. 15 lakh. Most of them with skills that AI can now replicate. Coding. Testing. Data entry. Basic analysis. All things AI does better and cheaper. These graduates spend 4 years and lakhs of rupees getting a degree that is becoming obsolete before they even graduate. The govt has launched some skilling programs but they are too small and too slow. A few thousand people trained in AI skills when millions need reskilling. A drop in the ocean. And the training is often outdated by the time it is delivered because AI is evolving so fast. The real crisis is that nobody is talking about this. The media does not cover it. The govt does not acknowledge it. IT companies do not admit it. Everyone pretends everything is fine. Meanwhile people are losing jobs, struggling to find new ones, and taking pay cuts to stay employed. The IT sector was supposed to be the safe career. The reliable career.
