16 percent youth have no jobs and govt says all is well, is unemployment destroying young India?

India has the largest youth population in the world. 65 percent of Indians are under 35. This is supposed to be our demographic dividend. Our biggest advantage. But millions of young people cannot find jobs. The latest data shows youth unemployment at around 16 percent. That means roughly 1 in 6 young Indians looking for work cannot find any. 1 in 6. Imagine a classroom of 30 students. 5 of them will not find a job. The govt keeps pointing at schemes and startup programs and Make in India. But the ground reality is different. Companies are laying off people. Startups are shutting down. Fresh graduates are settling for jobs that pay far below their qualifications. An engineering graduate is working as a delivery boy. A MBA holder is doing data entry. A commerce graduate is working at a call center for Rs 15,000. The Economic Survey itself flagged that India needs to create jobs at a much faster pace to absorb the growing workforce. The govt's own document says we need more jobs. But instead of honest conversation, the govt keeps saying everything is fine. The PM says India is the fastest growing economy. 5 trillion dollar economy. Vishwaguru. But where are the jobs? GDP growth does not automatically create employment. India is growing without creating enough jobs. This is called jobless growth. The economy grows but young people stay unemployed. Manufacturing has not absorbed the workforce the way it was supposed to. Make in India has not created the millions of manufacturing jobs promised. Automation is reducing the need for workers. AI is taking over entry level jobs. Meanwhile young people are losing hope. They are delaying marriage because they cannot afford it. They are moving back with parents because they cannot pay rent. They are taking loans for coaching that leads nowhere. Lakhs of young people spend years preparing for govt exams. SSC, UPSC, banking, railway. They spend their prime years in coaching centers. Most never clear the exam. And when they finally give up, they have no work experience, no skills, and years wasted. The govt announces Rozgar Mela and hands out appointment letters to a few thousand people. A few thousand. For a country with millions of unemployed youth. It is a drop in the ocean. And many of these are temporary or contract positions with no job security. Is unemployment the biggest crisis the govt refuses to acknowledge?
